Start with the phone call

The first call tells you most of what you need to know. A professional operation is calm, clear and specific. They'll tell you the price, the duration, what the treatment involves, and where you're going — before you ask twice.

Warnings: pressure to book immediately, vagueness about price, refusal to name the address until you've paid, or a rate that keeps shifting as you talk.

Ask these five questions

Any provider worth booking will answer all of them without hesitation:

What exactly is included for this price? How long is the actual hands-on time, not the appointment slot? Is the address the one I'll be going to? What's your cancellation policy? And, if you're booking outcall — who is coming, and do you confirm that by name or photo in advance?

A provider who dodges the second question in particular is worth walking away from. Ninety minutes that includes twenty minutes of showering and small talk is not a ninety-minute massage.

Check the address

Discreet is not the same as hidden. There's a difference between a building with no signage — normal, and often preferred — and a provider who won't tell you a street address at all until after payment.

Look the address up. Is it a commercial building, a hotel, a residential block? Does it exist? Is it anywhere you'd feel comfortable arriving at 11pm?

Read reviews properly

Reviews on the provider's own site are marketing. Reviews on independent platforms are signal — but only if you read them right. Ignore the five-star one-liners. Read the three-star reviews: they're usually the most honest, and they'll tell you about the real friction points.

A single pattern across several reviews matters far more than any individual complaint. If three separate people mention the same issue — lateness, upselling, a different therapist than booked — believe them.

Trust the small things

Payment method matters. A well-run operation accepts a method with some recourse. If everything must be cash, in an envelope, before the session, that's a structure designed to leave you with no options if something goes wrong.

So does the booking confirm: a name, a time, an address, a price, in writing. If you can't get that in text, you're relying entirely on someone's word.

What 'good' looks like

Clear pricing on the first call. A specific address. A named therapist. Written confirmation. A stated cancellation policy. No pressure at any point.

None of that is unusual or demanding. It's the baseline for any service you're paying several hundred dollars for — and the fact that not every provider meets it tells you something useful.
