Confirm the address and access
Give the full address, not the cross streets. If you're in a hotel, note the room number and whether the front desk requires guests to be registered. Some Manhattan hotels ask visitors to sign in — worth checking before you book, or the therapist may be stuck downstairs.
If you're in a doorman building, tell the front desk. Five seconds of notice saves a fifteen-minute delay and a phone call you'd rather not take.
Space and timing
You need a room with a door that closes, and enough floor or bed space to work around. A double bed is fine. A single bed in a cramped room is workable but limits the technique.
Book the slot when you won't be interrupted. Turn your phone to silent, not vibrate. If you're sharing the apartment, make sure whoever else is there is out for the duration — this is the single most common problem with outcall bookings.
What to have ready
A towel or two. Access to a shower, ideally, since both of you will want one. Room temperature on the warmer side — a body that's warm relaxes faster and the gel is more comfortable on warm skin.
Have payment ready before the session, not after. It removes an awkward moment at the end and most therapists prefer it. Check the method in advance.
What the therapist brings
A professional outcall therapist arrives with the gel, the oils, and the towels they need. Some bring a portable mat; most work on the bed. They'll set up quietly and pack down the same way.
They should not be arriving with an entourage, changing the agreed price at the door, or asking to bring anyone else. If that happens, you're within your rights to decline.
Security and privacy
Outcall works in both directions, and a professional provider takes their own safety as seriously as yours. Expect them to have confirmed your address, your name and your booking in writing beforehand. That's normal.
Reciprocally: don't book an outcall someone else arranged on your behalf, and don't ask a therapist to arrive at an address that isn't the one you gave. Both are standard reasons a booking gets cancelled.
Setting the room right
Dim the main light and use a lamp or two. Keep a glass of water by the bed. Put your phone out of reach, not on the nightstand.
Small things, but they're the difference between a session you remember and one where your mind never quite left the room.
